Tangata Whenua Community and Voluntary Research Centre Inc (Community Research) is a national, te Tiriti-led NGO and registered charity.
Whanaungatanga and strong relationships are central to our work whether it be collaborating with others or providing spaces and opportunities for others to connect.
Community Research is a trusted online hub for community-led research and knowledges. We support and champion community-led research and knowledge making.
How are we doing this?
- Our research collection is a free, open access database of community-led research and knowledges, reflecting the aspirations of tangata whenua and diverse communities in Aotearoa.
- Our special collections of research and knowledge are dynamic resources which reflect communities’ priorities and concerns within Aotearoa. These curated collections bring together key research and highlight the perspectives of diverse communities.
- Our ethnic, migrant and former refugee Tautoko sessions are a safe space for community members and researchers to connect and share knowledge.
- Our directory of researchers is a resource to find community focussed researchers in Aotearoa. This register makes it easy to connect with researchers working on shared interests and key topics.
- Our webinars and podcast channel, He Kōrero, feature thought leaders and diverse community knowledge holders who will challenge, inspire, and enlighten. They focus on Te Tiriti o Waitangi, indigenous approaches and methodologies, emerging research, and grassroots community-led development.
- Our Ngā Kete email communications update you on our activities towards a more equitable and inclusive Aotearoa. Ngā Kete contains links to recent research that showcases community knowledge and approaches to address current issues. We also provide links to our upcoming events and other opportunities across the sector.
- The What Works website was created to support communities and organisations to better understand: Are we making a difference? How can we do better? The website provides a range of tools to help you gather robust information to tell the real story about the mahi you are doing and the difference it makes in your community.
- Our Code of Practice encourages research to be by, for and with communities increasing the value for, and visibility of, community-led research.
Community-led research plays a vital role in decolonising knowledge hierarchies, relationships, power and privilege.
Our forums maintain inclusive spaces in which researchers, community members and the broader sector can connect and collaborate, explore new ideas and approaches, share resources and good practice.
Our platform amplifies diverse voices and the aspirations of tangata whenua and diverse communities in Aotearoa. Our role is to amplify community research and share it with others to bring about positive change.
All of this mahi contributes towards our vision of a more equitable and inclusive Aotearoa informed by community knowledge.
