Getting started with AI
Think of a prompt as a way to start a chat with your AI helper. Sometimes, you'll need to write a few prompts as the conversation continues. Following these easy tips can make a big difference. Keep these four main ideas in mind when writing a good prompt. You don’t need to use all four every time, but including a few will help.
Key Areas for Effective Prompting
- Persona—Explain who the AI should pretend to be or who the task is for.
- Task—Say what you need the AI to do.
- Context—Give some background information or details about the situation.
- Format—Describe how you want the answer to look.
Additional Tips for creating good prompts
- Use natural language—Write as if you're talking to someone. Use complete sentences to express your thoughts clearly.
- Be specific and iterate—Clearly state what you need the AI to do (summarise, write, change the tone, create) and provide as much context as possible.
- Be concise—Keep your request brief but specific. Avoid using jargon.
- Make it a conversation—Adjust your prompts if the results aren't what you expected or if there's room for improvement. Use follow-up prompts and an iterative process to refine and improve the results.
