Applying CPI to your budget

This one-pager, along with an accompanying spreadsheet template, is designed to help your organisation apply the Consumer Price Index (CPI) adjustment to appropriate expense items in your budget.
Examples of expense items that are affected by inflation:
- rent
- insurance
- wage costs like KiwiSaver and ACC levies
- audit costs
- contractor fees
- mileage reimbursements
- consumables
You can get the latest CPI percentage change on the Stats New Zealand CPI page. Although the regular quarterly update will continue, there will also be a monthly update starting early in 2027.
